Ambition's Ruin
April 13th, 5328
Healing from the events of Scorpion Cove hasn't been easy. Psyches have been damaged, injuries inflicted, and lives lost. Still, the whereabouts of Luca Benini are unknown, but his history has opened up a floodgate of questions and emotions.

One thing we know, is that the Greasers are still at large.
​
Beyond the doors of Aegis HQ, history had been made on the day of February 15th, 5328. Agent CARRION and a small team by their side worked tirelessly for days to gather enough interest and signatures in order to let Unnatural elementals apply.
​
With 67% of Aegis signing, the petition was presented to the head of Aegis, DOLORES ESPINA. While she was hospitalized at the time, and remains that way today, it didn't stop her from working. Yet anyway. The petition was met with a scowl, but a surprising lack of resistance.
DOLORES and the chiefs spoke to the government funding Aegis, leaving our heroes in the dark for a day or two.
One morning, the news was out. Unnaturals are now eligible to work alongside Naturals as Aegis heroes.

It's on every news channel, and all the papers. Unnaturals quickly line up to have a shot at their dreams that were once out of reach.
​
Due to the perils at hand, and the much needed help of Unnatural Elementals, the training period for them is shortened to 1-3 weeks, in partnership with Aquarius Elemental Academy.
​
The training period was protested, but the government persisted, since Aegis seems to need the help of the new elements so much.
​
FRANKIE INQUE has been granted the title of Head of Science, now in charge of providing medical necessities to our New Element allies, making Velvets available to all.
​
For some, none of this sits well, however. The timing and the circumstances could be our uprising or our downfall...

Several months have passed since the conclusion of both Aegis’ and Epoch’s most recent major missions. Both groups utilized this time to recover and plan for what comes next. Up to date, no suspicious activity or leads of any kind have been reported for Aegis or for Epoch to follow up on their investigations and seek more information on what they are up against. This downtime has allowed for much needed rest for some, and heightened anxiety for others.

Statistical analysis of crime rates, disappearances, murders and other accounts of unlawful or otherwise suspicious activity within the period from January to the present has been significantly reduced. For most of the populace, this has come as a relief. However, to Aegis and Epoch, it only raises more questions. Additionally, those few minor leads which Epoch and Aegis have followed during this period have proven to be incredibly tedious.
Those working as investigators will find that evidence has not only been sparse, but even some of the lesser cases have been noticeably infuriating: Robberies of one or two specific items. Clean break-ins with little to no indications of having happened. Open windows, doors and even safes with nothing taken from them. Local electrical outages, disappearing vehicles, new items found in people’s homes, and even two instances of a weapon disappearing from Aegis HQ (though this cannot be proven to be anything more than misplacement). The list goes on, each entry more unorthodox than the last.
As of now, no explanation or even any connection between events have been offered by any party seeking answers. Only the most superstitious can draw any conclusions about the relative, yet somehow passive-aggressive, tranquility surrounding Glenys.

Today, however, both Epoch and Aegis have been contacted by major organizations, each sponsoring their respective party…
Sabertec and Makernet.

Greetings.
My name is Hazel Saber. This message is being sent to all high-ranking officials within Aegis by request of Runold Saber, current CEO of Sabertec.
It has recently come to our attention that a number of Sabertec owned products, orders and assets have been going missing for some time. The disappearances of these assets follows a pattern which suggests foul play. Naturally, it is the obligation of Aegis to assist Sabertec in this matter under article E-AG07, ratified in agreement between the New Erewhon government and Sabertec during the founding of Aegis.
Additionally, the contents of this message are to be kept strictly confidential, and only permitted to be disseminated to Aegis agents. The intentional leaking of this information is punishable by law under article E-AG07.
Internal investigations have identified connections between Sabertec asset disappearances and related incidents in other organizations, as well as several other recurring events. This suggests a common group of individuals responsible for these events. The existence of this group presents an extreme and imminent danger to both Sabertec and the general populace of Glenys city.

Given that this situation threatens the continued security of Sabertec and our continued partnership with Aegis, it is expected that this situation be handled ASAP, and given highest priority among the focus of Aegis agents and the use of their resources.
Attached are instructions with which Aegis will follow directly. Bernard Saber has been designated the overseer of this issue, and Aegis will answer directly to him during all operations related to this matter. Additionally, section D-007 of the Sabertec intelligence committee has been placed under the control of Bernard Saber, and will assist in any and all Aegis investigations until the current matter has been resolved.
Aegis agents will be provided a special channel on their standard comm. devices which will allow direct communication with both Bernard Saber and section D-007. All communications between Aegis agents will be recorded to ensure the security of confidential Sabertec information, and to identify any possible foul play among possible “vulnerabilities.”

Hey Danny.
First of all, I wanted to apologize for disappearing, I couldn’t risk contact. I would have finished our last mission first, but the circumstances didn’t allow it. I am alive and well.
First of all, I need you to make sure that this message stays purely in Epoch. I used our secure Makernet line, so it should not have been breached. Make sure to delete this message after you have read it.
I will make this short; right before we entered that vault in Scorpion Cove, I was contacted by the corporation Makernet.
Lately, assets of theirs have been going missing, and investigations have found a pretty solid connection between these disappearances and other strange activities happening below the radar.
From the looks of it, some kind of highly organized, evidently dangerous group has not only been staying out of sight, but has been organizing a slow acquisition of all sorts of different items. Based on the profile of some of these items, it seems someone is gearing up for something huge, and from what I have experienced so far working with Makernet, they already have some highly worrying assets under their belt.
The scale at which this group’s intelligence and spy networking must extend for them to have pulled off what they have done so far means that if Makernet contacted all of Epoch or even just you, this group is all but guaranteed to notice before we even had time to do anything, so this has been on the extreme downlow so far.
The hope was that having only one member of the Epoch council work on this would not draw their attention, especially with the rest of the team busy in the Cove. However, this group has proven too advanced to be handled by a slow and careful investigation. It’s time for the rest of Epoch to get involved, we’re out of options. At this point, I have no doubt in my mind that whoever Makernet is looking for is also who we have been looking for this whole time. And they have been really busy, Danny…
I’m attaching some instructions, as well as loads of information I have found, in this message. I need you to get the others on board, but the fact of the matter is, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a mole or some other breach somewhere in Epoch. Do NOT share the contents of the attached file with anyone else, not even the rest of the council. But feel free to show them the rest of this message. They already know that we’ve caught on anyway. If there is a mole, they won’t gain anything from this.
