Long ago, humanity left their dying Earth to colonize a new planet; Caelum. Not many people survived getting there, much less adapting to their new lives, leaving very few to keep the species alive. With them, knowledge and certain technologies died too, forcing humans to start over in some sense.

It has taken many years for humans to get everything they used to know started up again, now beholding a steam powered age and new kinds of sciences and technologies. Airships, alchemy, medicine, mechanical limbs, and even teleportation. 

With these years, however, has also brought evolution. Some human genetics have been spliced with DNA from the former inhabitants of Caelum. It started out slow, but for the past few thousand years, these new humans have become more common. 

We call them Elementals.

These humans wield the extraordinary abilities to control certain elements. Of course, like every evolutionary change, it is still flawed, but these Elementals are no doubt very powerful. Humans, having never learned their lesson, saw the Elementals as weapons. Weapons that could be used for war, for power, fame, fortune... And so their goal became to capture and use them for their own gain. 

It is the year 5288, and Elementals are still being used and abused. Most have gone into hiding in order to avoid the hardships that come with being who they are. But, there is an island off the country of Urania that had been bought by a very rich man one hundred years ago. This man happened to be a water Elemental. Fane Oshiro used the island, named Newhaven, as a sanctuary for Elementals in order to keep them protected from the world.

For the last hundred years, Fane has found Elementals and brought them to Newhaven, being able to live much longer with healing abilities to achieve his goals. Many families have even sent their Elemental children to him... Together, the Elementals have built a community on the island, and some have even left to start their own protected sanctuaries. They’ve invented new ways to utilize their powers, and to understand who they are without the influence of the greedy mainlanders to hurt them, letting them live in peace.
